On a beautiful sunny day, almost 150 friends joined Chris' family at Randall's Park Crematorium to celebrate her life and pay their respects to a wonderful, vibrant woman who lived and loved life to the full.
The song 'birdie' by wings played as Louise followed Chris down the aisle- this song was so special because it was played to hers in her last hours and the lyrics 'it made me think of you' seemed so appropriate. Father John had known Chris for many years and conducted the service.
Matt read a beautiful reading - his
mother would have beamed with pride - and the hymn 'it is I, Lord' was chosen by Louise as it was one of Chris' favourite hymns.
The eulogy was read by Helen and the last song was Chris' favourite 'ain't no stoppin' us now' by McFadden and Whitehead.
The service was followed by an amazing reception at Epsom Downs racecourse where Chris and Mike were married 21 years ago.
Mike thanked everyone for the overwhelming number of messages and tributes to Chris and relayed one message from a nurse at the hospice who summed Chris up-
'You only had to meet Chris for a few minutes and she made you feel like you were her best friend'
Chris' favourite music was played throughout together and over 500 photos were shown on large TV screens reminding guests of the happy, fun-filled days.
Mike, Matt and Evie were an absolute credit to Chris- they were brave and strong and did her proud. She would have been smiling all day.
